We asked God in prayer whether a woman could be a pastor

I'll share the testimony of how the Lord Himself answered us when we prayed about whether a woman can be a pastor.

THIS IS JUST A ROUGH DRAFT AFTER THE LIVE TEACHING. IT WILL BE UPDATED IN ABOUT TWO DAYS.

About 5 years ago, a small group of us gathered to pray online — around 12 or 13 people, mostly women, with just one other man and myself. There was a woman pastor with us in that prayer at the time, from California, along with several Christian women holding various beliefs.

And I had just had an experience where I felt the Spirit of the Lord indignant within me. I had just come back from visiting a church I'd been invited to preach at in Africa, and it turned out there were 7 pastors there in total — the wife, the husband, and 5 other pastors. But the woman was supposedly the anointed one, and she was the leader in command of all the men.

It was a Pentecostal church, and even though at that time I still lacked full conviction about the Pentecostal apostasy, I knew a woman should not be a pastor. But back then I decided to stay silent and not speak about it.

But once I got back to the United States, in the first online meeting I held, I felt I had to speak about it, and I told the people who joined: I have something I want you to know about whether a woman can be a pastor, but I won't say it myself — I will pray and let the Lord show it.

The Lord gave Bible verses to about 6 of the women who were listening, and we looked up each verse to see what it said. To another He spoke in her mind. Below I'll share the verses God gave us, even through the woman pastor herself.

Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.

Isaiah 47:1-9

Judgment on Babylon

Come down and sit in the dust, virgin daughter of Babylon; sit on the ground without a throne, daughter of the Chaldeans; for you shall no more be called tender and delicate. 2 Take the millstones and grind meal; remove your veil, take off the skirt, uncover the leg, pass through the rivers. 3 Your nakedness shall be uncovered, yes, your shame will be seen; I will take vengeance, and I will not spare a man. 4 As for our Redeemer, the LORD of hosts is His name, the Holy One of Israel.

5 Sit in silence, and go into darkness, daughter of the Chaldeans; for you shall no longer be called the mistress of kingdoms. 6 I was angry with My people; I have profaned My inheritance, and given them into your hand. You showed them no mercy; on the elderly you laid your yoke very heavily. 7 And you said, I shall be a mistress forever, so that you did not take these things to heart, nor remember the latter end of them. 8 Therefore hear this now, you who are given to pleasures, who dwell securely, who say in your heart, I am, and there is no one else besides me; I shall not sit as a widow, nor shall I know the loss of children. 9 But these two things shall come to you in a moment, in one day: the loss of children and widowhood shall come upon you in their fullness, in spite of the multitude of your sorceries and the great abundance of your enchantments.

1 Corinthians 14:33-36 For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints. 14:34 Let your women keep silent in the churches, for they are not permitted to speak; but they are to be submissive, as the law also says. 14:35 And if they want to learn something, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is shameful for a woman to speak in church. 14:36 Did the word of God come originally from you? Or was it you only that it reached? 14:37 If anyone thinks himself to be a prophet or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things I write to you are the commandments of the Lord.

Ephesians 5:22 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 5:23 For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church, which is His body, and He is its Savior. 5:24 Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let wives be to their own husbands in everything.

1 Timothy 2:11-15 Let a woman learn in silence with all submission. 2:12 And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence. 2:13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 2:14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman, being deceived, fell into transgression. 2:15 Yet she will be saved through childbearing, if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, with self-control.

1 Corinthians 11:3 But I want you to know that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.

1 Peter 3:1-2 Likewise, wives, be submissive to your own husbands, so that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives, 3:2 when they observe your chaste conduct accompanied by fear.

1 Timothy 3:1-2 This is a faithful saying: if a man desires the position of a bishop, he desires a good work. 3:2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober-minded, of good behavior, hospitable, able to teach;

Luke 14:26 If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father, mother, wife, children, brothers, sisters, and even his own life also, he cannot be My disciple.

Mark 10:28-30 Then Peter began to say to Him: See, we have left all and followed You. 10:29 So Jesus answered and said: Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My sake and the gospel's, 30 who shall not receive a hundredfold now in this time — houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and lands, with persecutions — and in the age to come, eternal life.

Titus 2:3-7 The older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things — 2:4 that they admonish the young women to love their husbands and children, 2:5 to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed. 2:6 Likewise, exhort the young men to be sober-minded, 2:7 in all things showing yourself to be a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing integrity, reverence,

Qualifications for Overseers

1 Timothy 3:1-7 This is a faithful saying: if a man desires the position of a bishop, he desires a good work. 3:2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober-minded, of good behavior, hospitable, able to teach; 3:3 not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money, but gentle, not quarrelsome, not covetous; 3:4 one who rules his own house well, having his children in submission with all reverence 3:5 (for if a man does not know how to rule his own house, how will he take care of the church of God?); 3:6 not a novice, lest being puffed up with pride he fall into the same condemnation as the devil. 3:7 Moreover he must have a good testimony among those outside, lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.

Qualifications for Deacons

1 Timothy 3:8-13 Likewise deacons must be reverent, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy for money, 3:9 holding the mystery of the faith with a pure conscience. 3:10 But let these also first be tested; then let them serve as deacons, being found blameless. 3:11 Likewise, their wives must be reverent, not slanderers, temperate, faithful in all things. 3:12 Let deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well. 3:13 For those who have served well as deacons obtain for themselves a good standing and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.

Romans 16:1 I commend to you Phoebe our sister, who is a servant of the church in Cenchrea, 16:2 that you may receive her in the Lord in a manner worthy of the saints, and assist her in whatever business she has need of you; for she has been a helper of many, and of myself also.

Revelation 2:20-22 Nevertheless I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce My servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols. 2:21 And I gave her time to repent of her sexual immorality, and she did not repent. 2:22 Indeed I will cast her into a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of their deeds.
