That power and authority is for us, His children, to use — not for those who don't know Him. That's why there is a true spiritual battle and a false spiritual battle. To fight the true battle we must know the truth; then, if we're firm in the faith, the enemy will not gain the advantage over us.
...Spiritual Warfare: Training Your Hand for Battle. Today's topic is obedience. This is a foundational subject on which we must build to fight the spiritual battle, and in this foundation we'll be talking first about obedience.
Soon we'll be talking about love, love for the truth, faith, and the knowledge and revelation of the word, so that we can stand firm. Because it's not ideal to start a battle and then lose it, or not be able to finish it. If we want to start off strong, if we want to begin the fight, the spiritual warfare, in order to win — or if we've been suffering in the battle and we want to move from the side of oppression, from the side where we've been practically stuck, over to the side of victory — we have to rebuild that foundation, and that foundation begins first with obedience, which is indispensable.
We can do everything else right, we can have everything else, do everything God commands, but if we are not obedient to the word of God, everything we do is in vain. Spiritual warfare is a battle, but it's a battle we don't fight against flesh and blood — it's a battle against the forces of evil, and one of the reasons they became the forces of evil was disobedience, because they disobeyed, rebelled, and wanted to do their own will and not the will of God. But Satan, who is the father of deceit and lies, is also the king of the disobedient.
Imagine trying to fight a battle against Satan and his fallen angels while living in disobedience yourself, when he is the king of disobedience. That's a battle destined to be lost — we cannot defeat the king of disobedience if we ourselves are disobedient. It's important to set our hearts and get right with God in every area where there's some conflict in our behavior or conduct that goes against the word of God.
In John 8:34 the word says, Jesus answered them, Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. When you sin, you become a slave to sin, but that sin enslaves you to a high-ranking demon of darkness. In other words, for every sin — if it's sexual sin, there is a demon who is the ruler over sexual sin.
So whoever commits that sin becomes a slave to that demon. There's a demon of drunkenness, and whoever lives a life of drunkenness becomes a slave to that sin. The same is true of lying.
The same is true of quarreling, of disobedience, of partying, of addiction to any activity, to gambling, or anything else. Behind every sin there's a demon who rules over it, and the Lord does not receive us just as we are, still bound like that. Now, I do want to clarify that we don't have to be perfect to fight the spiritual battle, because perfection is something we obtain as we go on fighting the spiritual battle.
But there is one thing that is indispensable: we must understand that the wages of sin is death, and one thing the Lord requires of us is a willing heart. We must be willing to come out of that bondage. Whoever sins is a slave.
If we understand that sin is bondage, and we recognize there's a sin in our life, then what do we do? Repent. Repentance is very important. Repentance leads us to obedience, because when we repent, we're rejecting what the devil gives us, we're inviting the Lord into our life, and if we do what He commands with a heart willing to obey, then the Lord gives us the victory to overcome that sin.
The word also tells us in 1 John 3:8, He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. If someone lives a life of sin and doesn't repent, that person belongs to the devil. Regardless of where we're at today, once we've received the truth, we can begin to resist the devil — we can start taking the first steps, and the Lord is with us, but the heart has to be willing. But if a person doesn't want to repent, if someone says, I want to fight, I don't want the devil harming my health, I don't want the devil harming my finances — but that person isn't willing to repent, doesn't want to turn away from sin — well, that's a battle you can't win, because you're a slave to him, and he has a claim over his slaves. Only through the Lord can we be free.
If we understand this — that we must turn away from sin — that leads us to another very important point, because we're fighting against beings we truly cannot see with our eyes, and neither you nor I nor any other human being has, in ourselves, the strength or the ability to fight against satan and the rest of the fallen angels, except through our Lord Jesus Christ. We cannot do it in our own strength — they are stronger than we are. But those who truly can fight against them are His children. So the true spiritual warfare, and this is very important, the real warfare is for the children of God. But repentance, being a child of God, receiving the true gospel, and becoming a disciple of the Lord is essential — the Lord came to set free and give abundant life to His children, but the children of satan have no reason to be free, because they are his children and he is an enslaver.
Acts 19:13-14: There in Ephesus, some Jews went around using the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, We exorcise you by the Jesus whom Paul preaches. Seven sons of a Jewish chief priest named Sceva did this. But one time an evil spirit answered, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you? Here the demon is asking, I know Paul, I know that Paul is a son of God, I know who he is; I know Jesus, of course, He's the King of Kings; but who are you? In a word, you have no authority, because you have not been born again. These demons — there were seven of the sons of Sceva — made them flee naked and wounded. That's speaking in the flesh; that's what happened in the flesh. But truly, what happens in the spirit is far worse, because we are not merely flesh — we are body, soul, and spirit — and we cannot fight the real battle; the real battle is fought in the spirit, not in the flesh, and we cannot fight in the spirit without having the Lord in our life, because only through His Holy Spirit can we overcome the enemy. That's why it's so important to be a child of God — so that things don't happen to us the way they happened to the sons of Sceva. There were seven of them, their father was a priest, they were Jews, they were not children of God — they had merely believed because they'd heard the testimonies given in the name of Jesus Christ. That power and authority is meant for us, His children, to use, not for those who don't know Him. That's why there's a true spiritual battle and a false spiritual battle — to fight the true battle we must know the truth; then, if we're firm in the faith, the enemy will not gain the advantage over us. The Lord answered a woman in Matthew 15:24 who asked for healing for her daughter, saying, I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. In the same way, for us who serve Christ, we are not sent except for His children — and even beyond simply fighting, the Lord also uses us to minister healing and deliverance. Doesn't the word say, do not give what is holy to the dogs, nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them and turn and tear you in pieces? In other words, the spiritual fight is for the children of God; even true deliverance for someone is for His children, not for outsiders. Although, of course, out of mercy, and because sometimes people simply lack spiritual discernment, we give everyone the opportunity — that's how it should be, we preach to everyone — but those who show a worthy heart, those who show humility, those who show faith, those who show the character of a child of God — these are truly the ones who deserve to be given what is holy.
Romans 5:19: For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one man's obedience many will be made righteous. Those who have been justified through the Lord — not by our own righteousness, but through faith — these truly, I would say, meet a very basic and fundamental requirement to be able to engage in the war we're fighting.
Romans 6:16: Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one's slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? Here the word is telling us, if we submit to sin, if we don't repent and don't renounce sin, we are slaves to that sin. It's obvious to me that everyone today thinks, I can go fight the devil, I'm a great warrior — but they're not living in obedience, so they're deceiving themselves. When we fight in disobedience, we end up fighting, without understanding it and without realizing it, on the side of darkness. If we truly want to be instruments of God to push back and destroy the works of darkness, we must have a heart submitted to the word of God; we must, with all our heart and effort, seek to please God; we seek to love God, and He says that whoever loves Him is the one who keeps His word; we seek, with all our heart, to live a life of holiness. This is indispensable, it's very important in order to have authority over our adversary. In the word of God we have, I would say, a guide, a blueprint of the steps we must take and of how we must confront the enemy.
John 14:23: Jesus answered and said to him, If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. Whoever loves Him, which is whoever keeps His word, receives the Holy Spirit, and through the Holy Spirit we can also take the spiritual fight to a higher level, because when we receive the Holy Spirit, that's where we have the power of God to destroy the works of the enemy. The word tells us in 2 Corinthians 10:3-6, For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds. Sometimes — if we're going to fight the spiritual fight, we don't fight against flesh and blood, we don't use carnal weapons, we fight in the spirit — only, to wield those weapons we have to know them, but to have the right to use them we have to be obedient to our Lord Jesus Christ. Verse 5, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled. In a word, if we are in disobedience, how are we going to punish an enemy that we ourselves belong to, by being obedient to him instead? We can't very well punish our own master — we punish the disobedient, but we ourselves have to be obedient.
James 1:22-25: Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves; put it into practice. Whoever hears the word but does not put it into practice is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror; and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, not forgetting what he has heard but doing it, will be blessed in what he does. The blessed ones are not everyone who hears the word of God — the blessed ones are those of you who listen attentively, who receive it into your heart, and who put it into practice. The Lord also gives us a parable about building our house on the rock — this represents us building, starting a fight against our adversary. We have two options: we build, we start that fight, on the rock, that is, in obedience; or we build on the sand, that is, in disobedience. If we build on the rock, when the storm comes — which is when the devil attacks — we will stand firm. Yes, there will be storms, and it may not feel pleasant, but because the foundation is firm on the rock, because we started our fight, our battle, in obedience, when the storm comes that house, because its foundation is firm, will not fall. But if the house was started in disobedience — that is, if that fight began in disobedience — that house is not firm, because it started in disobedience, and when the storm comes, that house will collapse.
Matthew 7:24-26: Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock; and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand; and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell, and great was its fall. You see, if we begin firmly in obedience, we win, but if we begin in disobedience, we will stumble. My main goal with this brief teaching today is to make clear the importance, the need, to set our hearts — to set your hearts — on being obedient to the word of God, and to understand that if you truly don't want to be obedient to the word of God, then I exhort you not to even listen to this teaching, and to come back in the future when your heart is ready, because otherwise it's in vain. The word even says that when the unclean spirit goes out, it wanders through dry places seeking rest and finds none, and it says, I will return to my house from which I came; and the final state of that person becomes worse than the first — and so it will be with this generation. In other words, that's what happens with those who want to seek freedom, who want to fight against the devil, but don't repent of sin. If you want to be free, the first step is to set your heart on being obedient, to set your heart on seeking the presence of God.
Our next teaching will be titled The Difference Between the True and the False Spiritual Battle — don't miss it. Before I conclude, I'm going to pray for everyone, but before praying, I also want to give those of you who want to support our work the opportunity to do so. Below every video there are different links where you can support us with a card offering from anywhere in the world. Your offering is necessary so that we have the resources we need to keep carrying the word forward, to keep making new disciples, and to keep fighting the spiritual battle on your behalf and for the glory of God.
I cover every person listening to me with the blood of Jesus Christ. We come against every power of darkness that opposes deep repentance, in the name of Jesus. Every power that opposes obedience, every spirit that causes disobedience, every spirit that plants love for the world and the things in the world — we bind them, in the name of Jesus. No weapon formed against us shall prosper. The gates of Hades will not prevail against the church of God. Greater is He who is with us than he who is in the world. Let fire come down upon the whole army of the enemy, in the name of Jesus. Let the skin of every principality rot off while they are still standing, in the name of Jesus Christ. Let there be terror and confusion upon the whole army of the enemy, in the name of Jesus. I strike all darkness with the light, in the name of Jesus. Let fire come down and destroy the whole army of the enemy, in the name of Jesus Christ. Every spirit that binds the mind, the personality, the character, that opposes holiness, we rebuke it, in the name of Jesus. Mind control, come out, in the name of Jesus Christ. There is power in the name of Jesus. No weapon formed against us shall prosper. The gates of Hades will not prevail against the church of God. Greater is He who is with us than he who is in the world. Every spirit that opposes repentance, I command you to kneel, in the name of Jesus. The name of our Lord Jesus Christ is above every name, and at His glorious and mighty name every knee must bow and every tongue must confess that Jesus Christ is the King of Kings, to the glory of God the Father. Let fire come down and destroy every spirit that puts the children of God into bondage. You enslaving spirit, you demon that pursues, that hinders, that causes obstacles and difficulties for those who want to come out of every spiritual bondage, we rebuke you, in the name of Jesus. It is written that even the lawful captives of the mighty can be rescued, and that the Lord will contend with those who contend against us, and that He will make our adversaries eat one another's flesh and drink one another's blood, and that with one another's blood they will be drunk as with wine. I command every enslaving army to eat one another's flesh and drink one another's blood, in the name of Jesus. Let there be division among every opposing army, let them divide and attack one another, in the name of Jesus Christ. Let them be drunk with one another's blood as with wine. Let the terror of God fall upon every power that opposes a revival, in the name of Jesus. Every power of darkness that opposes unity among the Lord's disciples, let it be engulfed in flames and burn, in the name of Jesus. Let there be a firestorm over every spirit of bondage, in the name of Jesus Christ. I strike all darkness with the light, in the name of Jesus. There is power in the name of Jesus. Darkness and light met each other in battle, and darkness did not prevail. Darkness will not prevail against the light, if God is with us. Who can be against us? The name of our Lord Jesus Christ is above every name, and before His glorious and mighty name every knee must bow and every tongue must confess that Jesus Christ is the King of Kings, to the glory of God the Father. I strike all darkness with the light, in the name of Jesus. Let all darkness within the sound of my voice disintegrate by the light, in the name of Jesus. Darkness and light met each other in battle, and darkness did not comprehend the light. Let every darkness that has come against us, every darkness that opposes a revival, every darkness that opposes you taking up your spiritual weapons, kneel, in the name of Jesus Christ. Let a great panic from the Lord fall upon every throne of darkness that opposes a revival, in the name of Jesus. Let the skin of every principality rot off while they are still standing, in the name of Jesus Christ. Let the tongue of every one of them rot away in its mouth, in the name of Jesus. Let the eyes of every one of them rot away in their sockets, in the name of Jesus Christ. Let the terror of God fall upon the whole army of the enemy, in the name of Jesus. I strike the enemy's horses and riders with confusion and blindness. Spiritual blindness, come out, in the name of Jesus. Spiritual deafness, out, in the name of Jesus Christ. Spirit of stupor, come out, in the name of Jesus. Division among the disciples, I rebuke you, in the name of Jesus Christ. Lack of love among brothers and sisters, come out, in the name of Jesus. Hard heart, out, in the name of Jesus Christ. Cold heart, come out, in the name of Jesus. Spiritual oppression that keeps people from loving God's work, I rebuke you, in the name of Jesus. Confusion, come out, in the name of Jesus. Blockage of the gifts, out, in the name of Jesus Christ. Every power of darkness that contaminates the gifts, come out, in the name of Jesus. Thief of spiritual strength, out, in the name of Jesus. Thief of understanding, come out, in the name of Jesus. Blockage of the gift of prophecy, come out, in the name of Jesus. Blockage of the gift of knowledge, come out, in the name of Jesus. Blockage of the discerning of spirits, out, in the name of Jesus. Blockage of the gift of healing, come out, in the name of Jesus. Blockage of the gift of working miracles, come out, in the name of Jesus Christ. Every demon that blocks people from being filled with the fire of God, I rebuke you, in the name of Jesus. Every spiritual wall, every diabolical blockage the enemy has set up through various strategies — through witchcraft, through contrary prayers, through religious spirits that entered some church, or through territorial spirits — let every diabolical wall that blocks the fullness of the anointing fall, in the name of Jesus. I cover every spiritual wall with the blood of Jesus Christ. Every wall that has been set up to oppose your walking in the fire of God, let that wall disintegrate by the blood of Christ. Just as the wall of Jericho fell, let every stronghold the enemy is using to oppose your being filled with the Lord, with the Holy Spirit, fall, in the name of Jesus. No weapon formed against us shall prosper. Let the whole opposing army that opposes your walking in the fire of God, that opposes you feeling the Lord's love and joy in your hearts, that desire to serve the Lord with all your heart — let every spirit that blocks it disintegrate with the light, in the name of Jesus. Blockage of the gifts, come out, in the name of Jesus Christ. Every demon also that blocks people from being filled with the true Holy Spirit, because they've received a false spirit, a spirit of error, spirits imitating the living God — let those deceiving spirits catch fire, in the name of Jesus. Kundalini, I rebuke you, in the name of Jesus Christ. Spirit of error, come out, in the name of Jesus. Deception, out, in the name of Jesus Christ. Every impostor of the living God that seeks to deceive the children of God, come out, in the name of Jesus. Every blasphemous spirit, come out, in the name of Jesus Christ. Confusion, come out, in the name of Jesus. False gifts, out, in the name of Jesus. Spiritual oppression, come out, in the name of Jesus. Demons of sickness that also oppose the fullness of the Holy Spirit, I rebuke you, in the name of Jesus. Demons that oppress through sickness, come out, in the name of Jesus. Sickness, come out, in the name of Jesus Christ. Oppression, out, in the name of Jesus. Every spirit of self-defense, come out, in the name of Jesus. Mind control, out, in the name of Jesus Christ. Foolishness, come out, in the name of Jesus. Insensitivity, come out, in the name of Jesus Christ. Jezebel, vainglory, out, in the name of Jesus. I cover every person within the sound of my voice with the blood of Jesus Christ. Let there be fire in each one of you, in the name of Jesus. I cover the work of your hands, all your activities and labors, with the blood of Jesus Christ. I cover every person around you, beginning with your loved ones, with the blood of Jesus Christ. Let every work of darkness against each one of you disintegrate by the blood of Christ. Life and death are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit. I cover and bless each one of you, in the name of Jesus. Thank you for being with us. May the Lord bless you. I'll see you at our next broadcast.
